So we’ve made it to the 8th photowalk and we haven’t yet organised a walk around the Royal Crescent. I think its about time, therefore, to do so! The next walk will take place on Sunday 27th May so make sure you note it in your diaries.

The next walk will also take in the sights of The Circus, allow us time to take a look at the fascinating outlets along Margarets Buildings and finish off by meandering past the Assembly Rooms.

The walk will start with a wander around the Botanical Gardens so no matter what kind of photography you are interested in, this walk should have something for everyone.

Details of the route will follow shortly. In the meantime, please head over to the facebook event page if you’d like to let us know that you will be coming along.

The walk also visited Bath Abbey Cemetery to see some fantastic views out across Bath. Please click the thumbnail below to see a map of the route. Many thanks to Chris for his help in the planning.

We have seen lots of fantastic images uploaded to both Pixie and Flickr. Here is a small selection of our favourite images.

The 5th Bath Photowalk – Walcot Street – Sunday 15th January

The 5th Bath Photowalk took place on Sunday 15th January with a walk along the Roman Road and then back along Walcot Street in Bath’s Artisan quarter. Along the way we popped in to Abbey Furniture  to photograph the interesting array of antique furniture and shabby-chic bric-a-brak on sale! For a map of the route we followed, please look here.

This was our largest walk to date with lots of new photowalkers and many returning regulars. We’ve seen so many great images from the walk, consequently it was really difficult to pick just a few to showcase here! Please check out all of the fantastic images over on Pixie and Flickr. As a taster, here are just a few…

The 4th Bath Photowalk took place on Thursday 1st December with a night-time walk in order to photograph the festive lights and take in the Christmas market. Thanks to everyone who braved the cold – we hope that you enjoyed the evening (I can personally say that the mulled wine was very tasty!)

Here are a few of our favourite shots from the walk.

If you would like your images to be considered for possible inclusion on this blog following future walks then be sure to upload your images to Pixie or Flickr and make sure that you add them to the appropriate groups otherwise we won’t be able to find them! We’d love to be able to include images posted on the facebook page but they are just far too large! If you would like to point us in the direction of any other amazing photos from the walk, please feel free to do so in the comments.

Until next time….

The 2nd Bath Photowalk – Great Pulteney Street – Sunday 18th September

The second Bath photowalk took place on Sunday 18th September with a walk along Pulteney Bridge, Great Pulteney Street and through Henrietta Park – you can find a map of the intended walk here.

It was bound to happen at some point and on this walk we experienced some heavy downpours! Luckily the walk started in bright sunshine and the range of photographs captured by the photowalkers conveyed the schizophrenic weather we experienced!

Here are just a few of our favourite images from the day – you can find lots more amazing photos over on Pixie and Flickr.

Sharing photos

Following each of the photowalks, we would love to be able to see and share your photos. In order for us to do this, we need to be able to find them! So, in preparation, we have set up a number of ways in which you can do this.

The first, and our preferred, method is to upload your best 10 to 20 photos to the wonderful photo-sharing site Pixie. Pixie is free to join and prides itself on being a fun and friendly photo-community. But don’t just take our word for it, follow this link to sign up!

The lovely people over at Pix.ie have created a group just for us. By clicking the upload button at the top of this website, you will be taken to Pixie where, if signed in, you will be prompted to select the photos you want to upload. Be sure to choose the correct photowalk from the list of options as this will automatically tag your photos with relevant information to make it easy for us to find – clever huh?!

All of the uploaded photos will automatically be included in the Bath Photowalk group where anyone can view the most recent and most interesting photos at a glance. Take a look, comment, vote, discuss and have fun!

Of course, if you decide not to join Pixie, there are lots of other ways to share your photos. Share them on our facebook page, link us to them on twitter or upload them to our Flickr group.

Bath – Travel Information

A number of people seem to be interested in joining us for the Bath photo walks from outside of Bath. So, if you are travelling from afar, here is some handy information.

The bus and train stations are both centrally located at the southern end of the main shopping area. Trains run direct from London and Bristol up to every 30 mins. For bus information, please check the First Bus website.

If driving, Bath has three Park and Rides which are really useful if you are unfamiliar with central Bath. Unfortunately, these don’t operate on a Sunday.

For walks running on a Sunday, there are a number of car parks in central Bath. Southgate car park is the main car park for the shops in Bath. Charlotte Street is also very central. You can find further information on these car parks and more here.

On Sundays on-street parking in Bath should be free. Good places to find a space include the Circus, Royal Avenue and Victoria Park – be aware that there is a permit parking scheme in operation in Bath so check signs to make sure you are definitely able to park! Also, during the summer, Bath gets VERY busy and so finding a free parking space become nearly impossible!

Also, please be wary when driving around Bath – there are many one way streets and also various bus lanes and bus gates in operation with some being notorious for catching unsuspecting drivers! Keep an eye out for signs and, if unsure, don’t chance it!

The First Bath Photo Walk – Sunday 31st July

The first Bath Photowalk got us off to a flying start! It was great to see so many faces and we were pleasantly suprised to see so many regular London Photowalkers who made the trip over especially.

This was our intended route although a few of the London visitors decided to undertake an extended walk while they were in town.

We’ve really enjoyed going through all of the images on Pixie and Flickr – here are just a few of our favourite images.
