The Bath Photo Walk

The first photowalk of the new year took place in the picturesque village of Lacock on Sunday 20th January.

Lacock was the setting for many scenes in the BBC adaptations of Pride and Prejudice and Cranford and the village itself provided us with plenty of photographic opportunities.

We had the unique opportunity to photograph Lacock in the snow but unfortunately this did make it a little difficult for some of our most dedicated photowalkers to attend. Despite this, we had a great turnout and because the walk was so popular we will try and re-run it later in the year.

We again provided a list of themes to get the photowalkers thinking. Here are a few of our favourite photos from the walk.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The last Bath Photowalk of 2012 took place on Sunday 25th November. We visited the Bath Vintage and Antiques Market in Green Park Station. This particular market was their Christmas event and so in addition to the market traders, there was also entertainment and mulled cider!

For this walk we provided a list of 15 themes which we challenged the photowalkers to try and capture. Here are a few photos to show what everyone came up with.

 

 

 

 

In early November we ran a special autumn walk to take advantage of the amazing colours that were beginning to appear. The walk didn’t have a route, instead we decided to just explore the Botanical Gardens and Victoria Park.

On Sunday 7th October we headed out of Bath City Centre and visited the picturesque town of Bradford-On-Avon. For a map of the route we followed please click on the thumbnail below.

The weather was once again lovely and despite a few problems affecting the trains, we had a great turnout. Here are a few of our favourite photos from the walk.

 

 

 

 

 

We were also delighted to see that this photo was chosen as one of Pixies photos of the day last week.

 

On Sunday 26th August we strolled along Cavendish Road to Lansdown Road visiting a number of Bath’s famous crescents. For a map of the route that we followed, please take a look here.

On Sunday 8th July the Bath Photowalk took place along the Kennet and Avon Canal. To see a map of the route we followed please click on the thumbnail below.

We were lucky with the weather and only had to shelter from a couple of short showers. The range in weather definitely provided us with some great subjects to photograph! Below are just a few of of favourites.

The 8th photowalk took place on Sunday 27th May with a walk taking in the Botanical Gardens, the Royal Crescent and the Circus. For a map of the route that we followed, please click on the thumbnail below.

It was such a hot and sunny day which meant that we had a great turnout with people looking to make the most of the great weather. Here is a selection of our favourite shots.

The 7th Bath photowalk took place on Sunday 15th April with a walk around Widcombe taking in Widcombe Crescent and many of the beautiful residential buildings and gardens tucked away from the city centre. The walk also visited Bath Abbey Cemetery to see some fantastic views out across Bath. Please click the thumbnail below to see a map of the route. The 6th Bath Photowalk took place on Sunday 26th February with a walk around the oldest park in the City of Bath – Sydney Gardens. During the walk we encountered both the railway and the Kennett and Avon Canal with its elegant bridges.

The 5th Bath Photowalk took place on Sunday 15th January with a walk along the Roman Road and then back along Walcot Street in Bath’s Artisan quarter. Along the way we popped in to Abbey Furniture  to photograph the interesting array of antique furniture and shabby-chic bric-a-brak on sale! For a map of the route we followed, please look here.

This was our largest walk to date with lots of new photowalkers and many returning regulars.
